Blackberry Finally Certified in Indonesia

As of Monday, September 7, 2009, the Department of Information and Communication as well as the Indonesian Telecommunication Regulator fully certified Research In Motion as the principal BlackBerry producer.

The right was returned to RIM after its authorized repair center in North Jakarta went through an inspection set out by special team on August 19.

RIM was viewed as having met the requirements stipulated in Article 8 Section 1 about its capacity of providing guaranty and after-sales service except if the related device is not sold in Indonesia.

"RIM had violated the regulation because it had to ship the broken device to Singapore if some major damage was found in the related device," said Gatot S Dewa Broto, Chief of Information and Public Relations Center at Information and Public Relations Department on Monday, September 7.

"However, given the establishment of RIM authorized repair center in North Jakarta, such an issue should not occur in the future," said Gatot.

The agreement was signed by James Yersh, RIM Limited VP Controller, and Rita Effendi, Teleplan Indonesia's Program Manager.
