Original source: The Jakarta Post

President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has moved a step closer to announcing his new Cabinet ministers, a source close to the president told Antara news agency Saturday.

“Cabinet [selection] is close to finalized. Talks with [political] parties are done. ...minister candidates' achievements, however, have been taken into consideration by SBY,” said the anonymous source.

According to the source, SBY has talked with a number of political parties, including the Golkar Party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).

Some 45 names have been included in the list of possible candidates to be ministers. Yudhoyono has said he will interview the candidates after Oct. 1.

Presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng said last week that the next Cabinet would possibly include figures from parties outside the current coalition with SBY's Democratic Party, which includes the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).
